Advocacy is an important responsibility of those who support libraries. Legislators and other government officials, the media, and the general public must all be educated regarding the value of Multitype Library Cooperatives and libraries. Below are resources that may help you to better present the "value-added" that happens when Multitype Library Cooperatives and libraries are well funded. We know that they are heavily-used!

Why MLCs Matter
No single library can provide everything its users need. Knowing this, MLCs were formed to share materials through interlibrary loan and to provide cost efficient, ongoing technology & training for all libraries: public, academic, school, and special. Through membership in the MLCs who apply for state grant funding on behalf of the libraries throughout Florida, even the smallest libraries have immense resource opportunities.
What are MLCs?
Multitype Library Cooperatives (MLCs) provide access for everyone to the world's knowledge and information resources, connecting Florida's libraries to each other and the world. MLCs provide staff training, continuing education, professional development, and an international resource sharing system. MLCs also monitor current trends in library service and demonstrate emerging technologies.
