      <title>SWFLN Executive Director's Report May -June 2008</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: center" class="MsoNormal" align="center"> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'">EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT </span></strong></span> </p> <p style="text-align: center" class="MsoNormal" align="center"> <span style="font-size: 12pt"><strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'"><span style="font-size: 10pt">May- June, 2008</span> </span></strong></span> </p> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'">Greetings SWFLN Board members, staff of SWFLN member libraries, and anyone who is interested in SWFLN – or just stumbled onto this blog.<span>  </span>Yes, SWFLN has launched its new web site and it includes the SWLFN blog.<span>  </span>I intend to provide my regular Executive Director’s reports on the blog, but it is not just the Executive Director’s blog - it’s the SWFLN blog.<span>  </span>If you check it on our web site or sign up to get it on an RSS feed, you’ll get information on upcoming events, new services, and items of general interest.<span>  </span>Luly Castro, Member Services Coordinator, will post items about membership and record loading; and our new Continuing Education Coordinator will post items on our continuing education programs and new technology.<span>  </span>I don’t think there will be heavy traffic, but I do hope that it is informational and that it improves our communication capabilities.<span>    </span></span></span> <p class="MsoNormal"> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'"> </span></span> </p> <p class="MsoNormal"> <span style="font-size: 8pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'"><span style="font-size: 10pt">S</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">peaking of Continuing Education Coordinator, a fond goodbye goes out to Chris Jones.</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">  This is his last week in the office.</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">  I told him at the membership meeting at the Ave Maria University Library, in front of forty people, that he couldn’t leave till the new web site was up.</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">  I guess he is going to really go now.</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">  Much as we will miss him, we are excited to see him go on to get his Ph.D.!</span><span>  </span></span></span> </p> <p class="MsoPlainText"> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'">SWLFLN is working with the Human Resources Department of Florida Gulf Coast University in anticipation of posting the position this week and next.<span>  </span>It will be advertised on the FGCU employment page and Florida Library Jobs.<span>  </span></span></span> </p> <p class="MsoPlainText"> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'"> </span><br /> <strong><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'">Committees and Interest Groups:</span></strong></span> </p> <p class="MsoPlainText"> <span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma','sans-serif'">The Audit Committee met on April 30 at Lakes Regional Library to review the audit.<span>  </span>Members Jill Horrom, Chair;
